The Big Tweet Off: The fight is on!

It all started one afternoon on Twitter after Paul published a particularly scathing blog post about Foursquare being lame and accusing Foursquare users of being the modern day equivalent of stamp collectors.  Beth called him cold and suggested that he should have a duel with someone who loves the platform, and from there the seed was sown. Many excited tweets and emails between us later, and The Big Tweet Off was borne...

The Big Tweet Off will be a regular Twitter battle between two people with diametrically opposed views on a given topic. It’ll be 8 Mile, but in tweet form.  It’ll be a gloves off, bare-knuckle fight between two challengers at the peak of their game. Rocky for microbloggers, if you will. It will not be for the faint-hearted.

The format will see two contenders in a one-on-one tweet off, debating for and against a given proposition. After a set time period, everyone monitoring the debate using the #bigtweetoff hashtag will have the opportunity to have their say, with a final vote deciding which of the two challengers is the winner.

Very soon we’ll be revealing details of our first two contenders, the topic they’ll be scrapping over and when the battle will take place. Subscribe to this Posterous and/or follow @thebigtweetoff on Twitter for details. And get in training. Soon it might be you standing up for what you believe in...
